He essentially robbed the OP of service. Guys like the one that the OP dealt with that come in wanting to leave what they feel like are a good reason why some ladies might want to make sure their date is fully aware of the amount of the date they are trying to book.
Sometimes saying something like "are you clear on the amount to bring and that it's non-negotiable?" can do wonders. If you're booking 24hr dates you need a good portion of that upfront. I personally don't confirm dates over 2.5hrs (so 3hr & up dates) without a 50% minimum deposit. It's a pretty good policy for keeping away dishonest guys like him that are likely to try to play around with the money.
